Hey there. So the album got a pretty good review in Today's Evening Herald. A nice little boost and no small fete from an Independent artist. I seems like all the hard work is startin to pay off. Anyway here's the review written by Sarah Mc Quaid.
Jimi Cullen belongs to the Woody Guthrie school of songwriting. If he feels strongly about something, he writes a song about it, and as with Guthrie the results are mixed. When Cullen hit's the mark, he's hard to beat. The sardonic Small minded people living in small towns, a biting rocker about growing up in Cullen native Gorey, Co. Wexford is a case in point. So is On the street, one of the most effective songs about homelessness i've ever heard with it's bitter chorus that put's the burden of guilt on singer and listener in equal measures. Less successful is G&T On the rocks, It's what you might call a hate song about Bush and Blair and while most of us would probably agree with the sentiments expressed, a little subtlety wouldn't have gone amiss. It'll be interesting to see where Cullen goes from here.
